Video Script

The purpose of this video is to show Aiden how to accurately and consistently make free throws. It will also give the guys some time to show off and do some tricks, and give me more pointers. David-Today w’re in the Stannard Gym, I got a few of my teammates here, and we’re gonna show you some free throws and (routines) (David introduces friends, being shotting, showing correct form, et ct.) Jojo- How do you wanna shoot? Underhand or overhand? A- I wanna shoot overhand, like you guys do; Teach me so I’ll know what I’m doing Jojo- Which is your dominant hand? A-Umm. I guess my right… Jojo-Okay, then put your left hand on the side of the ball to guide it, then place your right hand on top. Spread your fingertips, the throw should be all fingertips A- So keep my elbows in, fingertips do all the work, feet spread, knees bent? Jojo- Yeah, however feels more fluid…comfortable (I shoot a bunch, finally get it) Josh-Okay, so when I shoot, I walk up to the line, bounce the ball twice with his right, then shoots. (Keeps D-When stepping up to the free-throw line, you always need to put in the most amount of effort; you can never think about missing, no one is perfect, so even if you miss, keep trying. -I bounce the ball twice, spin it in my hands, then bring it around my back, then shoot (David shoots) D- Perfect way, square your back, plant your legs, keep your elbow in an L shape, ball resting on your palm, then squat, and shoot (extending your arm) A- okay, so like this (insert bloopers, failed attempts, David & Friends Laughing) (Finally makes the shot) D- Okay Aiden, in order to free throw correctly you need to plant your feet shoulder width apart, knees bent, and loose; remember its all in the wrist D-For free throws, always remember; elbow, legs, and follow through on your shot. Video in Newspapers

I researched a local newspaper in Rhode Island called "The Pawtucket Times". I had chance to actually read a hard copy of the newspaper and it was professional looking, but the Internet site looked like a pop-up type of page. The website did look amateurish and could use a lot of fixing up, however, the stories were interesting. This paper drew my interest because they did a personal article on one of my closest friends from the of town Pawtucket. I looked through the site and i found a couple of videos that close to a minute long. Usually newspaper sites have video archives where you can go and see videos that are related to some of the stories but the Pawtucket didn't or at least I wasn't able to find it. Another thing I noticed was that they had a out of date video as one of their video feed headlines which is not a normal thing either. iReport and Pawtucket times are similar because they both publish recent news, but they differ becuase iReport has news from all around and "The Pawtucket Times" covers local news. Don't consider this is not a bashing to "The Pawtucket times", instead consider it a friendly review.

iReport Critique

When you sign up for ireport cnn they elect to give you a tour so that you can learn how to navigate around the website. It's sort of like of YouTube where they have the latest top rated videos so that you can see what's popular. The page is also linked to the actual CNN page, I was streaming the page from my phone and when I swiped the screen to left CNN homepage popped up. I feel like this is a good idea for being efficient because streamers don't have to re-stream the page. The best thing is it allows people to upload their own videos with the opportunity of making the actual CNN page. It is a global news-gathering tool. However, this means anyone can upload a video without edits. I think that this may be the only bad idea because none of the videos are screened, therefore some videos may be too explicit or over the top for viewers.

LSC Men's Basketball Feature Story

It was a pleasure to have coach Joe Krupinski of the Men's Basketball team take time out of his day and do this brief interview. We felt like it was no better person to talk to than the Head Coach himself if we wanted meaningful insight. He summed up the whole season with a brief 4 minute interview. He first introduced himself as he has been the head coach here at Lyndon for six years. Coach Kruspinski spoke on his teams successful season as they set first time accomplishments like playing a regular season game against the University of Vermont(Division 1). We asked Coach Kruspinski what three words described his team the best and his response was "Passionate,energetic and improved". Working with the coach and listening to David talk about basketball made me realize that some people really do have a passion in them; it brings happiness to their lives, and gives them something to look forward to when their down. The pictures really brought that idea home for me, because you can see all the determination and pride in their faces, and you can see how excited the fans are as well. The coach gave us not only his own opinions, but insights as well, which showed me a lot about his passion for the game, as well as his rational, logical plans for the team. Audio Slideshow Synopsis

Aiden & I will be covering the Lyndon State Men's Basketball team. We will cover the whole season and get some coverage and information from most of the games that they have played.  We will visually introduce each player on the team in the slideshow and show some in game action photos of players courtesy of the Lyndon State Athletic department. There will be an interview with the Head Coach Joe Krupinski on his overall thoughts about the season, a recap and his best moments of the year. The interview will be the main part of the audio for the project. We will get some info on the teams plans for next year. When its all said and done our point will be to help people get to know the team and here the head coach's outtake on the season.

I chose this NBA game 7 audio slideshow, NFL draft combine photo gallery, and Washington State Huskies Men's basketball photo slideshow.It is cool how you can relive this amazing NBA final game through photos and commentators voices narrating the game through each picture. I think the voices help keep the viewers attention because as each picture comes up the commentators explains what had just happened in the game play by play style which makes it seem as if you are watching a video. This was my first time seeing an audio slideshow.I feel like slideshows and photo galleries work better than story tools, especially audio slideshows because they help bring the pictures to life.Sound does makes a big difference: pictures already tell 1000 words and with audio it helps create more visuals and words to interpret pictures.  A photo gallery is hard to relate with if its something that you have no interest in.
